I am in New Jersey, staying at the lovely Delgado family home and filming for BIGGER THAN ME.

It's been amazing spending some time where Wrenna grew up and learning about her past. I've been filming her working at the surf camp, walking through the supermarket with wetsuit gloves on her feet, Wrenna and her sister jumping around the lounge room playing'Just Dance' on Wii and the library where she worked for 5 years from the age of 14.

Burritos, thirty degree heat and onshore winds make for lazy, sweaty days in Puerto Escondido. I'm here at Zicatela Beach with Wrenna, and Mercedes is staying down the road.
We are yet to see the waves turn on, but the swell is rising today and tomorrow could be the first chance for me to capture some epic barrels at the world famous Mexican Pipeline.

I spent 12 days in Brazil filming Mat McHugh's music video for, 'Go Don't Stop'. We went to Sao Paulo, Guaruja, Port Alegre, Salvadore and Rio. After Brazil, I spent a few days editing while on the road in Buenos Aires. It's my first music video so I'm pretty excited about it. It will be coming out very soon.

I've been working on my next feature for the last 7 months, filming mostly in Hawaii as well as Oregon, California and now I am in Chile!

BIGGER THAN ME is a film on women's big wave surfing, featuring the top women big wave surfers from around the world.

It's more than about just surfing a 20ft wave, it's a story of the characters behind the surfers.

Where one wave will either take you, or make you, these women are the next big thing and they're making history wherever they go.

Last night was the Billabong XXL Awards in Anaheim, California. It was a massive day, driving from Hollywood, to Venice Beach and then to Anaheim, I didn't have time to get changed..probably the only girl rocking havaianas on the red carpet. My friend Troy Brajkovich helped me film all day. Keala Kennelly took out the Girls Performance Award, and Danilo Couto took out 'Ride of the Year' and $50,000.

While I was in Byron Bay I met Sybil Steele (SybilSteele.com), a photographer who asked me to make a short video of a fashion shoot she was doing for Bikini Bird. I've never dabbled in this kind of thing before, but it was fun working with a team of girls and battling the leeches, rain and quickly fading light together.

Big Screen Australian Film Festival

Jess and I have spent the last two days in Yamba, NSW, at the Big Screen Aussie Film Fest. We thought Phillip Island was small, but Yamba has given a new meaning to the term 'small town'. However, we have enjoyed the warmer weather, 24 degree water and up-grade to a pretty nice apartment overlooking the sea (and a van full of 3 Swedish boys).. First Love was well loved by the town, and we thank Big Screen for bringing us up here. And Jim from The Cove Apartments, top bloke.

Taylor Steele hooked me up with Donavon yesterday in Byron Bay to make a little video clip from his day. I got some shots longboarding The Pass, hanging out, a bit of behind the scenes and then the show at The Beach Hotel. Jess Laing came along too, as well as Taylor and his two girls who loved Donny, or Donald Duck as they called him. I'll have the clip ready in a couple of weeks!

I've been warned about getting caught up in the success of one project, and I'm keen to start producing some of the ideas that are swimming in my head. The final Aus premiere was held on Queenslands Gold Coast. We had a very nice apartment overlooking Greenmount Beach which is just around the corner from Snapper Rocks. There were plenty of Pro Surfers at the screening, including world champ, Steph Gilmore (pictured below with Nikki & Jess) and Mick Fanning rocked up with his nieces and nephews. The next day the girls went for a surf at D'Bah with Micko, and his dog Taylor came along for the ride. The water is 26 degrees up here! No wetsuit needed :)

We had to turn people away at the premiere in Sydney. Besides Jess and Nikki getting their hair stuck in my hairdryer, the night was another success. One reviewer wrote:

I SAY: Go see this film; I think you will be glad you did.
SEE IT FOR:The joie de vivre that most of us adults have lost, and the great imagery.

I met my idol Taylor Steele, the biggest surf filmmaker in the world (no big deal) who couldn't seem to fault the film and later distracted the security guard while I jumped through an opening into a bar in Bondi!

The last Australian premiere is on the Gold Coast tonight.

First Love Australian Premiere in Melbourne.
Our first of three premieres in Australia kicked off at The Jam Factory in Melbourne for valentines day. The night was a huge success, with a packed out cinema and plenty of excitment surrounding the film. I think we can say that everyone 'fell in love with surfing' like we hoped they would. Tonight we have the premiere in Sydney!

X-DANCE, BEST DOCUMENTARY AND EMERGING FILMMAKER

First Love was a huge success at the 2011 X-Dance Film Festival. We received the award for Best Documentary and I won the Emerging Filmmaker award!It was a jammed packed 5 days of snowboarding, watching films, hot tubbing and meeting other filmmakers. There were heaps of inspiring films, my favourites were Like a Lion, Deeper, Stoked and Broke and of course Life Cycles, with it's incredible cinematography. Thanks VAS Entertainment for putting us up in an amazing house amongst the snow and thanks to X-Dance for the unforgettable experience.

I spent the last two days of 2010 at The Pyramid Rock Festival on Phillip Island making a short promotional video clip for the festival. It was two jam packed days of filming from a helicopter, a cherry picker, stage and in and amongst the crowd. There were an exciting array of bands such as The Temper Trap (one of my favourites), Arrested Development, N.E.R.D and Xavier Rudd just to name a few.

PENGUIN ISLAND

On and off for about two years, I worked on a six part series called 'Penguin Island' alongside world renowned wildlife cinematographer David Parer.

It was an amazing experience. Late nights on cold windy cliffs and pre-sunrise sessions to catch the penguins as they made their way out to sea. I learnt so much, and I am very grateful to 360 Degree Films for having me on this project.

Penguin Island will be aired ABC1, BBC & National Geographic.
